These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Cohost™ — the streaming application, the cohost.live website, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. The Service
Cohost is a streaming application currently in alpha — a control room for live streaming, with an AI cohost feature that reads chat aloud, flags trolls, and assists during broadcasts. Some features may not yet be fully functional, may change without notice, or may be removed entirely. Alpha-stage software is provided as-is, with no guarantees about uptime, performance, or feature completeness.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you're under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms on your behalf. Cohost is built primarily for use by individuals — businesses and organizations using the Service do so under the same Terms and accept full responsibility for their use.
3. Waitlist + Early Access
Joining the Cohost waitlist creates no contract or obligation. We may grant or deny early access at our discretion. While Cohost is in alpha, access is free; founder-pricing eligibility for waitlist signups is a non-binding promise we intend to honor when paid plans launch, but is not a binding contractual commitment.
4. Your Account + Conduct
You're responsible for keeping your access credentials secure and for all activity on your account. You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service
- Use the Service to broadcast content that's illegal, infringes third-party rights, or violates the policies of any platform you stream to (Twitch, YouTube, Kick, etc.)
- Interfere with the operation of the Service, attempt to disrupt our infrastructure, or probe for security vulnerabilities without coordinated disclosure
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Service or its outputs
- Use the Service to harass, harm, or impersonate any person
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated.
5. Streaming Platform Compliance
Cohost broadcasts to third-party platforms (Twitch, YouTube, Kick, custom RTMP endpoints, and others). You're responsible for your compliance with each platform's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and broadcasting policies. Cohost is a tool — what you stream is your responsibility.
6. Content + Intellectual Property
You retain all rights to the streams, recordings, clips, and broadcasts you create with Cohost. We claim no ownership of your content. You grant us a limited license to process your content as needed to operate the Service (e.g., compositing scenes, encoding video, transmitting to your chosen platforms).
The Cohost name, logo, and brand assets are unregistered trademarks of Cohost ("Cohost™"). You may not use the Cohost brand in a way that suggests endorsement or partnership without our written permission.
7. AI Features + Outputs
The AI cohost feature uses machine learning models to classify chat messages, generate spoken responses, and detect mood. AI-generated outputs are not always accurate. You should not rely on the AI for decisions that materially affect your audience, business, or legal position. The AI's voice synthesis approximates yours but is not a perfect imitation; statements made by the AI in your voice are still yours to manage.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE FROM HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COHOST SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, OR LOST DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU'VE PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE — OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if continued service becomes commercially impractical, or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability) survive.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as Cohost evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email to your waitlist address or via a notice on the Cohost website. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law + Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR JURISDICTION — replace this with your state/country], without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in that jurisdiction. Both parties waive the right to a jury trial. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
